Banana Care advice.

Now you have your new Banana plants here's how to care for your new plants:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully unwrap your plants. While we take great care in packing them, don't worry if the leaves appear a bit damaged - they grow rapidly.

  2. Acclimatizing: Allow your plants a few days to adjust to their new environment. Start by placing them in a sheltered spot outdoors, gradually exposing them to sunlight and wind. Once they've settled, you can move them to a brighter spot, but monitor for leaf scorching or excessive drying. Water them from the bottom to encourage root growth.

  3. Re-potting: Only repot when you see roots emerging from the bottom of the pot. Increase pot size gradually, repeating the process as needed. Use multipurpose compost, ensuring it's well-draining. Keep the soil moist but avoid waterlogging, as it can lead to rot.

  4. Feeding: Hold off on feeding initially, as young plants have fragile roots. Most compost mixes contain sufficient nutrients for 4-6 weeks. When your plant is in a 10 L pot or larger, introduce diluted liquid feed with a high nitrogen content. Avoid tomato food and opt for foliage-focused feeds like lawn food. As the plants mature, you can incorporate well-rotted manure or chicken pellets into the compost mix.
